Trench boxes are used in trench shoring as a form of trench ground support. They offer an affordable lightweight trench lining system. They are most commonly used for ground works operations such as installing utility pipes where ground movement is not critical.

The size of the system required to use for your trench ground support depends on the your maximum trench depth requirements & the size of the pipe sections that you are installing in the ground.  

The system is used already assembled in the job site. The trench shoring is made up of a basement panel and top panel, connected with adjustable spacers.

If excavation is deeper, it’s possible to install elevation elements.

Common Uses for Trench Boxes

Trench boxes are used primarily in excavation when other solutions, such as piling, wouldn’t be appropriate. Slope requirements vary by soil type: for example, stable soil can be sloped back to an angle of 53 degrees before requiring additional support, whereas very unstable soil can only be sloped back to 34 degrees before a box is required.
